1,131 arrests and 27 deaths of Maoists in Jharkhand since 2020

According to reports published on Thursday at a security review meeting presided over by chief minister Hemant Soren, at least 27 Maoists have been killed by security forces in Jharkhand since January 2020.According to the report, 1,131 Maoists were detained in the same period, while 108 gun fights occurred between the Maoists and security forces between January 2020 and August 2022.During this time, fourty-five Maoists surrendered to the police.Officials claim that Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) has declined in the state and that eight out of the 24 districts in Jharkhand are now LWE-free.

In addition, 15 new jobs are also being created in the area.Soren urged authorities to give villagers in the Maoist-affected areas the benefit of government programs by establishing police-protected camps.There should be basic services like electricity, water, and roads.According to him, this will give the police more credibility among the people and help in combating extremist activities.

According to the chief minister, it would give them jobs and raise their wages.To discourage organized criminal activities, Soren also ordered that signal jammers be installed in all state prisons.Criminals held in jails are alleged to be carrying out criminal activities using cellphones, according to reports.He said that this must be avoided at all costs.
