1,550cr Kutch canal construction has been approved.

The state government approved a proposal to extend the Dudhai sub-branch Narmada canal in Kutch district by another 45 kilometers at a cost of Rs 1,550 crore . The decision would irrigate an additional 13,175 hectares of land in the districts Anjar and Bhuj talukas .

Gandhinagar: The state government approved a proposal on Saturday to extend the Dudhai sub-branch Narmada canal in Kutch district by another 45 kilometers at a cost of Rs 1,550 crore.According to an official release, the decision would irrigate an additional 13,175 hectares of land in the district's Anjar and Bhuj talukas.Farmers had been seeking water from the Narmda canal system for irrigating their crops.According to a government statement, a review meeting in this regard was held in Gandhinagar on Saturday, under the chairmanship of chief minister Bhupendra Patel.

According to the statement, the construction of the Dudhai sub-canal from Bhachau to Dudhai has already been completed.Officials from SSNNL (Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited) were urged to start the tender process for the project at the veryearliest.
