200 Saved While Fishing In US Lake From Drifting Ice

Ice floe broke free and sank into open water . Emergency services rescued fishermen after three hours .

Washington, D.C. : When the frozen slab under their feet broke free and sank into open water, a member of the group called 911 and alerted emergency services, who arrived on scene and discovered a large amount of ice floes of up to 30 yards (27 meters) stranding the fishermen.Chief Deputy Jarrett Walton said in a statement that the group had not even realized the ice floe had snapped free.But, the Beltrami County Sheriffs Office issued an alert to fishermen's cellphones to inform them that they would be rescued in an emergency evacuation after three hours.The alert included airboats, water rescue boats, ATVs, drones, and a temporary bridge, according to the sheriff's office.
