Mumbai (Maharashtra) India — Officials said on Thursday that the Mumbai Cyber Police had arrested four international criminals from Pune for defrauding people of millions of rupees under the pretence of delivering jobs and visas in the United States.According to police officials, the group duped a man of Rs 26 lakh, who filed a police complaint.The four suspects were then arrested by using a trap, according to the police team.The recovered 13 mobile phones, 4 laptops, passports from different countries, and three internet routers.
According to the DCP, the scheme was used to trick the victims by sending US visas sent by a mail ID similar to that of the American Embassy and demanding money in someone else's bank account.The police discovered mail IDs of over 2 lakh people and personal mobile numbers of over 1 lakh 4 thousand people after the arrests, which was shocking.According to DCP Cyber Police, all four defendants did everything with total clarity and had a team that was assigned different roles, and the investigation is ongoing to determine how many people were tricked by the four suspects.
