VADODARA: On Saturday night, nearly 400 former students from around the country, including those who had settled abroad and from metro cities around the country, gathered at M S University's famed Faculty of Fine Arts to attend a reunion organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts Alumni Association (FFAAA).The former students recalled their time with the faculty, which had started as a single room and now hosts several departments. Our US-based alumni Raju Patel suggested the idea of holding an annual alumni gathering in 2016.We expanded it on a larger scale from 2017 to 2018, giving it a formal structure, said Hetal Parikh, vice president of FFAAA.
He said that even after the use of advanced technology, there is still a lot to learn from such stalwarts, adding that former students have always been a backbone of the class.Former faculty dean Vijay Bagodi and former head of the graphic department said the reunion, which was revived after the Covid-19 restrictions imposed during the pandemic, has received a positive reception. There is no one agenda. As they travel memory lane, there are students who are reminiscing on their old memories and videos. The reunion took place in Dubai, Canada, United States, and the United Kingdom, with a few other students residing in Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vallabh Vidyanagar among others.Where the faculty needs our assistance, we aim to fill those that are open.We have been supporting the faculty year after year by hosting lectures, symposiums, and doing the right thing when it comes to basic necessities, said Parikh.
