5 people in Tamil Nadu receive organs from a brain-dead man, and 33

TRICHY (Trichy)-On Friday, a 33-year-old brain-dead man from Karur offered a new lease of life to five patients in Trichy and other districts through the Mahatma Gandhi memorial government hospital (MGMGH).Doctors extracted two kidneys, liver, and two corneas from a Krishnarayapuram patient who sustained head injury in a traffic collision on August 1.He was first admitted to Karur medical college hospital, but was referred to MGMGH later that day for emergency care.On August 4, the man died of brain death.

At MGMGH, a kidney was given to a kidney failure patient.Another kidney from the brain-dead man was given to a patient at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.The liver was given to a patient in a private hospital in Trichy, and the two corneas were given to eligible patients.
