Ahmedabad: From a parcel held at the customs department's international post office, the city crime department confiscated 590 gram of ketamine hydrochloride worth Rs 2.95 crore, commonly known as the date rape drug.The drugs were supposed to be sent in the garb of clothes, cosmetics, and spices to the Colorado state of the United States if they were smuggled from Rajasthan to Navsari, according to a crime branch official.A crime branch officer got an alert when the contents of the parcel was examined in the presence of customs officials, and two plastic boxes carrying 590g of white powder were recovered.The drug was reportedly ketamine hydrochloride, a drug that is forbidden under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, according to the official, who said that the sender of the parcel had been arrested under the NDPS Act and that a further investigation was ongoing.According to the NDPS Act, it is used to induce anxiety loss and is used by some people to achieve a hallucinogenic sensation in comparison to other opioids.
