A contractor in Kolhapur receives a Rs. 45,000 fine.

A contractor was fined Rs 45,000 by the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation for leaving unprocessed waste out in the open . The waste treatment plant in Kasba Bawda, Kolhapur city, has been declared operational .

KOLHAPUR (KOLHAPUR): A contractor was fined Rs 45,000 by the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation for leaving unprocessed solid waste out in the open.The solid waste treatment plant in Kasba Bawda, Kolhapur city, has been declared operational and is currently producing 180 tonnes of waste each day.Since the plant was shuttered for more than a week, waste collection from homes and commercial establishments had to be completely stopped.The plant has two main sections, one that separates the dry and wet waste, and the other that uses the wet waste for the biogas plant.

For the past 45 days, we have imposed a Rs 1,000 fine per day on the contractor, as per regulations.According to the report submitted by the committee, the increment of an official appointed for training has been reduced, while that of a sanitation official.
