About 7-8% of deaths are attributed to mental illness and brain-related problems, the second leading cause of death, according to statistics, the government of India is spearheading a national campaign on mental illness through the T-MANAS Tele-counseling service.The central government's T-Manas initiative was based on the earlier Karnataka E-Manas initiative.With the support of NIMHANS, the state government is already conducting a pilot project in Chikkaballapur, Kolar, and Bengaluru Rural districts, according to Minister Sudhakar.The aim of the pilot project is to make this program available in all areas of the state in the coming days.
