A massive cleaning campaign has begun.

The municipal corporation in Coimbatore, India, has started a new round of the urban cleanup initiative . The initiative was launched in ward 82 on Friday in the presence of public health committee chairman P Mariselvan .

Coimbatore, India: The municipal corporation has started a new round of the urban cleanup initiative, targeting one ward per day, to increase cleanliness and to clean storm drains.The initiative was launched in ward 82 on Friday in the presence of public health committee chairman P Mariselvan and city health officer Sathish Kumar.On Saturday, ward 86 was subjected to mass cleaning, with the focus on removing piles of garbage and clearing storm drains, according to Mariselvan.According to him, a team of not less than ten sanitary workers would be tasked with sweeping.

Flooding in streets became normal even after a light rain.Although all stretches can be cleaned in a single day, each ward will be chosen and staff will concentrate there.The mass cleaning project will remove leaves that could not be cleared during the normal drive.It will be held from Monday to Saturday.
