New Delhi, India, December 7: On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party crossed the halfway mark in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, uprooting the Bharatiya Janata Parties' (BJP) 15-year-old rule in the city's civic body, according to the most recent results published by the Election Commission. The BJP, which has ruled the civic body since 2007, won 97 seats before the Aam Aadmi Party took over the MCD polls at 8 a.m., with the AAP claiming to win the polls for the fourth time and chanted slogans praising party leader Arvind Kejriwal. While the BJP fielded its MPs, Ministers, the CBI, and the ED, Delhi's constituents remained in favour of the AAP.For the BJP's claims against Kejriwal, the people have responded with a fitting response.

The election campaign, which took place ahead of the polling on December 4, saw both parties (BJP, AAP) asserting victory, but that did not stop until December 7, when the election was announced. The polls for 250 wards in the national capital were conducted on December 4, with about 50% voter turnout, with a total of 1,349 candidates participating. The low voter turnout, on the other hand, was not predicted to be a big threat in the recent polling, however. The BJP, the AAP, and the Congress were all set to clash in the high-stakes civic elections, which saw top leaders from around the country go to the streets for door-to-door polling and meetings. From 2012-2022, there were 272 wards in Delhi and three entities-NDMC, SDMC, and EDMC-that later merged into a MCD, which officially emerged on May 22.
