According to a study released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), at least 67% of the 250 newly elected councillors in the MCD are crorepatis in 2017, according to the AAP.Following the delimitation of wards earlier this year, the number of seats in the MCD fell to 250.The Congress gained only nine seats, while three wards were given to Independent candidates.Out of the 248 contenders analyzed, 167 (67%) are crorepatis.According to the study, 82 out of 266 councillors polled during MCD elections (in 2017), 135 (51%) councillors were crorepatis, according to the survey.
