New Delhi, India (India), November 15 : Mary Kom, an Olympic medalist, has been elected chairperson of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), while Achanta Sharath Kamal, a table tennis player, has been elected vice chairwoman.The list of ten eminent athletes was announced by Returning Officer (RO) Umesh Sinha in New Delhi on Monday, including Olympic bronze medalist and Padma Vibhushan boxer Mary Kom, Double Olympic medalist and Padma Shri shooter Gagan Narang, Olympic silver medalist and Padma Shri rower Bajrang Lal, Olympian and CWG Fencing championship gold medalist and Arjuna Awardee Bhavani Devi and Om Pra On November 15, 2022, the last date for applying for SOMs is 4 p.m.The SOMs, together with the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Athletes Commission, will form the electoral college for the IOA Presidents election, which is set to take place on December 10, 2022.The Athletes Commission's electoral college consists of 42 athletes nominated by 36 National Sports Federations.
