LUCKNOW: The 33-50% increase in the salaries of subject experts and contractual staff employed by Lucknow University to teach self-finance courses has come as a welcome development ahead of the festive season.Allerdings, no changes have been made to the remuneration for subject experts who participate in regular courses.A subject expert in a self-finance postgraduate (PG) and PG diploma course used to receive Rs 800 per lecture, with a maximum of Rs 30,000 in a month as per the order issued by the LU registrar office. The amount has now been increased to Rs 40,000 per month.

Around 200 experts will be benefited by the change.According to the order, these subject experts will be recruited for the duration of a self-finance course, not for five years as planned earlier. The decision was made keeping in mind that courses are sometimes cancelled due to less enrollment.Despite this, about 150 subject experts who were hired for regular courses were disappointed that nothing had been done for them.

They are paid Rs 400 per lecture, with a maximum of Rs 16,000 per month.According to a subject matter expert who requested anonymity, this treatment is unfair.According to officiating registrar Sanjay Medhavi, the LU's compensation for non-permanent teachers is the highest among all state universities.
