New Delhi (New York) – With a victory by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) poll, celebrations began at its headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday, with participants waving party flags, offering candy and playing to the beat of drums.According to the latest counting trends, the Congress was a distant third after winning ten wards.Since morning, the AAP's office on Rouse Avenue was celebratory, with songs blaring through loudspeakers and the entire building being decked out with colourful balloons.Supporters and leaders, including Gopal Rai, Atishi, and Durgesh Pathak, began gathering at the office.As counting began at 8 a.m., party leaders had their eyes glued to LED screens showcasing the latest trends.
As the final touches were being given to the office for celebrating the party's first victory in a municipal election here, the BJP was leading in 66 seats and the AAP in 30 around 9 a.m.The Congress was ahead on only three seats as the counting began, and around 9.05 a.m., the AAP had 107 seats and the Congress was 95.Around 10.30 a.m., the AAP (123) met with the BJP (108).The Congress was leading in 12 seats, according to the most exit polls, with the BJP coming in a distant third. In the 2017 municipal election, the BJP had won 181 of the 270 wards.A voter turnout of 50.48 percent was reported.Due to the death of the candidates, the polling was not possible on two seats.The AAP had 48 wards and the Congress had 27. The highest polling percentage (65.72) was recorded in ward no.5 (Bakhtawarpur), while the lowest (33.74%) was recorded in ward no.145 (Andrews Ganj).
