Thiruvananthapuram, India: The Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, expressed surprise on Thursday over the assassination of two people in Kannur, allegedly by a drug mafia gang.According to police, the two men were killed on Wednesday in the Thalassery area of Kannur district, allegedly by a drug mafia band, and a third person, who was the victims' relative, was allegedly assaulted by the band, a day after they brutally assaulted the son of one of the victims for opposing the sale of banned substances by them.Police said Shameers cousin Shanid (38) was stabbed in the attack and is now in the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital, and that the whole society should wake up and work for it.Such gangs should be curbed through thorough investigation and coordinated intervention by the police and excise departments, he said.
