AHMEDABAD (Ashmedabad): The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has opposed the state's proposed minimum wage hike.The workers and employment department's draft notification stated that it proposed a more than 25% increase in minimum wage, much more than Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh had expected.According to the GCCI, the increase should not exceed 10%.In a letter to the labor and employment department, GCCI President Hemant Shah said the company was going through a difficult period after Covid, but that the workers have been paid full price.

Gujarat has MSMEs, and high labor costs will make it difficult for them to maintain themselves, he said.
