Akhilesh criticises the government for reclaiming wheat quotas in PMGKAY.

Akhilesh Yadav says the government is giving priority to corporate houses instead of farmers . The poor will be given rice rather than wheat in June .

Lucknow, May 10, 2013: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav chastised the BJP for withdrawing the wheat quota in Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Ann Yojna (PMGKAY), saying that the action was taken at the expense of poor farmers and the beneficiaries of the free ration distribution program. The poor will be given rice rather than wheat in June.Akhilesh said that the BJP was promoting the export of 3kg wheat and 2kg rice before the election, but that now nobody is commenting on wheat non-distribution.Now that the elections are over, Kisan Samman Nidhi's supporters are being asked to repay the money under one pretext or the other. This time, Akhilesh said, the government was giving priority to corporate houses instead of farmers and supporting them in their wheat purchasing.

For the United States, the procurement goal was 60 lakh metric tons of wheat, but only 2.35 tonnes were made. Not only has the production of wheat decreased, but it has also decreased. As a result, wheat and flour prices in the open market rise.According to Akhilesh, the SP chief, who is also the Opposition Leader in the state assembly, said that the BJP-led centres and states in the region do not want the farmers to prosper.

He said that now, even the cost of the common mans roti (bread) will be regulated by outside forces rather than the government. He said that the BJP had promised to double the income of farmers before the elections.Farmers are now not being served by the government's plans.Rather, it appears that a situation is being created in which the farmers will find themselves at the mercy of the authorities, Akhilesh said.
