Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Secretary V P Joy has called on all district collectors to take all precautions to avoid any disruptions in the state between May 14 and 16.People should avoid going to hilly terrains as a precaution, according to the district administration and the disaster management department, and should arrive at the nearest camps if there is a red alert.The Kerala State Electricity Board authorities have been asked to maintain their vigil to discourage people from becoming electrocuted during heavy rainfall.Police have been asked to provide adequate protection to those who live in areas with a high chance of landslides.

Special control rooms will be opened in the area where a high alert has been issued.All visitors have been advised to avoid night travel.If water levels in any rivers or dams increase, the disaster management department will schedule emergency meetings in their respective districts.The district administration will be advised on this.

All the district police chiefs have been asked to keep the police force able to support the district administration.
