The EAGLE Act would allow employment-based immigrants to transition off of temporary visas . The bill would also give immigrants more flexibility in switching jobs or starting a company .

The White House also supported Congress to pass a bill that would eliminate a per-country threshold on green cards in order to encourage US employers to hire workers based on merit, not their birthplace, according to Neil Makhija, executive director of the Indian American Impact.The EAGLE Act was passed last week and would take effect in 2022.The White House said that it is time for Congress to act and provide fair and equitable treatment to so many immigrants who call this region home, and that the bill would also allow employment-based immigrants to transition off of their temporary visas and give them more flexibility in switching jobs or starting a company, the White House said.Immigrants help our economy grow, our communities flourish, and our country move forward, according to the White House.
