New Delhi (New Delhi)-Three former women mayors of Delhi who contested on BJP tickets won the civic polls on Wednesday, while an ex-mayor of North Delhi lost the election in the Civil Lines ward, crossing the majority mark of 126, according to State Election Commission statistics.The Congress dominated nine wards, with three independent contenders making the cut, but the party put up a spirited contest.Although BJP leaders Neema Bhagat, Satya Sharma, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat won, the pendulum shifted in favor of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led party soon after.In May 2022, the three municipal corporations-North, South, and East Delhi Municipal Corporations-were reunified into a single body, and PTI reported that there is a celebratory atmosphere in our region.Party workers are playing drums, dancing, and taking selfies.

Sehrawat, who won a district in the Dwarka-B division, took to Twitter to thank supporters.Sharma won from Gautam Puri ward, while former north Delhi mayor Avtar Singh bit the dust in the Civil Lines ward, losing to AAPs Vikas by a margin of 6,953 votes.Three Independent candidates, including Shakeela Begum from Seelampur in northeast Delhi, also won.
