Andhra Pradesh: The National Green Tribunal demands that Porus pay burn survivors Rs 35 lakh.

Porus Industries ordered to pay additional Rs 35 lakh to eight workers who were critically wounded in the fire at Akkireddigudem . Company also ordered to pay Rs 29,98,800 to the Central Pollution Control Board .

VIJAYAWADA, April 13: The National Green Tribunal ordered Porus Industries' management to pay an additional Rs 35 lakh to eight workers who were critically wounded in the fire at Akkireddigudem on April 13.The Chennai bench also ordered the company to pay Rs 29,98,800 to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) as environmental compensation for violations of safety legislation and harm to the environment as a result of the reactor explosion in the plant, which killed six workers and injured 12.Eight of the eight people wounded were hospitalized with severe burns.The NGT had formed a joint commission of members of the CPCB, state PCB, and the West Godavari district magistrate to probe the situation.

Each deceased family was paid Rs 50 lakh by the factory and the state government.However, Rs 65,02,560 must be paid to the deceased Udrupati Krishnaiah as per the joint committee's calculation, which includes loss of future income and other expenses.The remaining amount of Rs 15,02,560 was owed to the Krishnaiahs family by the NGT bench.The company borne the hospital's medical bill for the eight seriously ill workers.
