New Delhi (India)-On Friday, the Ministry of Coal announced that total coal production in India stood at 448 million tonnes as of October 2022, an 18 percent increase from the peak production during the corresponding period of last year.According to the release, the ministry expects to produce 30 million tonne of coal-based fuels at domestic coal-based plants by the end of November 2022.It (the ministry) wants to keep upgrading the stock so that by the end of March 2023, the total thermal power plant stock would reach 45 million tonnes.According to the report, it is also planned to increase coal stocks at the pithead.

The Ministry of Energy is also upgrading coal transportation by rail-cum-road methods.For the next eight months, CIL has provided the maximum rail-cum-road route of transportation to all power-producing enterprises.According to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and the Ministry of Energy, Railways, and Coal are working together to promote the transport of coal by sea routes.The coal transport from MCL to Paradip by rail and then to power plants on the Eastern Coast is currently being carried out on a rail-sea-rail route.

By early next year, the coal export for western coast plants is expected to begin using rail-sea-rail.According to the report, the government intends to encourage coal transportation by all three possible means.
