Ashwini Vaishnaw predicts a new telecom law will be in place in six to ten months.

New Delhi: The new telecom bill is set to be implemented in 6-10 months, but communications minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Friday that the government is not in a hurry.We will implement the final version of the legislation during the basel consultation process.The bill would then be read through the House of Commons' committee processes.Then it has to go (to) Parliament.

The Indian Telegraph Act of 1885, the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1933, and the Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act of 1950 are all included in the bill.The bill also guarantees that rules enacted under the repealed laws will remain unchanged until such time as new laws are proposed.
