New Delhi (India), May 15 : Former Congress MP and party's senior leader V Hanumantha Rao sent a letter to the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday, urging her to prioritize the caste-wise census issue at the Chintan Shivir in Udaipur, saying that the BJP-led Central government is turning out to be a deaf ears to all requests and demands from various groups, primarily from OBC.When Rajnath Singh was Prime Minister, he declared that the caste-wise census would be conducted in the year 2018.But his reassurance is yet to come to a close.Read the letter, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hails from the OBC caste, does not care about this vital issue, he said.

There is no consensus on the country's caste structure till date.I am the former convenor of the Parliamentary Forum of OBC MPs and would encourage you to consider the caste-wise census issue as a priority in Chintan Shivir in order to press on the NDA government. Our proposal in this respect will also send a positive note to the OBC population in the region, and the less fortunate sections will be happy.According to the letter, there is also the possibility that OBCs' vote bank will be tilting toward the Congress faction.
