At pvt hops, getting an early booster for international travel is now difficult.

Pune, India, authorities say they are unable to provide precaution doses to overseas visitors until the government issues clear guidelines . This could reduce the travel plans of vaccine recipients aged 18 to 59 years .

Pune, India — Authorities of private hospitals in the city stressed on Monday that they were unable to provide precaution doses of the Covid vaccine to overseas visitors until the government issued clear guidelines. This could reduce the travel plans of vaccine recipients aged 18 to 59 years, particularly in countries that mandated a booster within nine months of the second dose of Covid vaccine.Only private hospitals are allowed to prescribe precaution doses to people in the 18-59 years age bracket. The government-run Covid vaccination centers have been allowed to vaccine people aged 60 years and older with the precaution doses. The Centre recently encouraged overseas visitors to take a booster dose after a minimum of three months from the date of receiving the second dose as a special case rather than the mandatory nine-month period.

Dr. Madhav Chavan, the general manager of Phoenix Hospital, said that without such evidence, the Covid vaccination centers would be unable to determine if a person was really seeking the booster early in their international travel. However, state immunization officer Dr. Sachin Desai said that overseas travellers aged 18 to 59 years who require precaution doses anytime after the second dose of the vaccine has been required to contact the private Covid vaccination centers. However, people over the age of 60 can take the caution dose at the specified shorter interval at government sites. In the next few days, CoWIN is expected to make the necessary changes to the deal.
