Honda riders Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro qualify for Sunday's MotoGP race . Both Honda riders will be aiming to improve on their qualifying positions .

Le Mans, France, May 14: Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro are confident that they can improve on their grid positions as the Honda Team prepares to showcase their true speed in the Moto GP World Championship on Sunday. With the top 12 riders all having broken the lap record at the end of Free Practice 3, it was a close contest for a place in Q2 as the incredible speed of the current MotoGP grid was shown. This record-breaking pace would not slow down throughout the day as the lap record was continuously improved upon. Both Honda Team riders were able to match the pace and dipped under the previous lap record to jump straight into Q2 in the morning.

Marquez walked away unharmed in Free Practice 4, but had only one bike to qualify with. The eight-time World Champions best time from Q2, 131.148, will take center stage on the fourth row of the grid.Marquez's goal is to improve on Sunday as he prepares for a busy start to the season by taking early positions. As he placed 11th on the grid, just behind his Repsol Honda Team teammate, Pedro was left wanting more.

Espargaros 131.102 from Free Practice 3 was his best time of the day, setting the previous time of 131.526 in Q2.Even though not hitting his target, Espargaro is determined to push forward and is hopeful to compete in the second group in the series as he looks to take advantage of Le Mans' long straight. My feeling and pace were good this morning; I followed Quartaro but I was feeling good and gaining speed. With the warmer weather, I wasn't feeling as well as before with the bike, so in the second run I was putting a lot of work on my riding but I did get a small crash.

We need to figure out why.I can normally adapt better to the circumstances, but I couldn't find the way today. Our lap chart shows that we aren't that fast, and that I think we should be fighting in the second group.Marc Marquez, a Honda rider, said today was a difficult day, especially when the temperature rises because we had trouble finding our speed from the morning.

I thought I didnt maximize our chances in qualifying because I found Johann on my final lap, but I don't think it made a huge difference.Tomorrow will be a good start, and with a long stretch in progress we have some opportunities to gain early positions and aim to fight with the second group, Honda rider Pol Espargaro.
