Mumbai: Officials from the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested a passenger on Thursday for reportedly smuggling diluted contraband drugs wrapped in two bottles of whisky at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, according to specific intelligence obtained by DRI officers.On November 24, the passenger was travelling from Lagos to Mumbai via Addis Ababa, attempting to smuggle illicit drugs worth about 3.5 kilograms.A thorough examination of his luggage led to the recovery of 2 bottles (1 litre each) of whiskey.Cocaine was detected in the fluid inside the bottles after testing with the drug detection kit.

Officials said cocaine was ingeniously dissolved in the liquid contained in the said bottles, making it difficult to detect.Officials said in a release that the illicit international market value of the drug is estimated to be more than Rs 20 crores.
