The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has agreed to open an electric vehicle charging station for electric buses . The civic body has agreed to invest Rs 15 crore on the project, which will begin shortly .

NASHIK (NASHIK): The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), a city in Nashik, has decided to open an electric vehicle charging station for electric buses.The civic body has agreed to invest Rs 15 crore on the project, which will begin shortly.The Nashik Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (NMPML), a NMC-owned transport company, is operating the city bus service with two private companies.On city streets, 250 buses are currently operating, including 200 CNG and 50 diesel buses.

Since the electric buses would be plying on city streets, they are planning to install electric charging stations at Tapovan bus stop.The NMPML has already requested that the Nashik municipal commissioner, Chandrakant Pulkundwar, compile a proposal to buy 25 electric buses under the N-CAP and submit it to the Centre for consideration in receiving funds.NMC began operating as a city bus service in July 2021 by providing 25 buses on 11 routes.On more than 50 routes in Nashik, 250 buses are now operating.
