At two separate accidents in Krishnagiri, Tirupur, nine persons died.

Four people died in Krishnagiri on Friday evening after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Ankinayanapalli near Bargur . Five people were killed and another was injured in Tirupur on Thursday evening when their SUV collided with a private bus after jumping the median .

In two separate vehicle accidents, nine people were killed in Krishnagiri and Tirupur districts in less than 24 hours.Four pedestrians died in Krishnagiri on Friday evening after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Ankinayanapalli near Bargur, as they were returning home after having tea.The deceased were identified as K Bhagyaraj, 43, of Chinna Bargur; N Sujith Kumar, 40, of Mallapadi village; T Veeravel, 43, of Bargur; and S Jagadeesan, 47, of Venkatasamuthiram village, according to Bargur police.All four people, according to a police officer, were daily wage laborers.

They were quickly knocked down by a speeding vehicle, killing Bhagyaraj, Sujith, and Veeravel on the spot.Jagadeesan was rushed to a local government medical college hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries without receiving medical attention.Until Bargur police arrived, the car driver, Thanigaimalai, of Mookandapalli near Hosur, surrendered.According to the officer, the remaining three dead bodies were taken to the government hospital for autopsy.

M Veerakumar, 27, of Sulur, Coimbatore, was returning home with his companions N Maheshkumar, 34, Sajithkumar, 34, (both Sulur residents), Murugan, 36, K Vetriselvan, 40, and Kishorkumar, 38, (all residents of Neelambur), according to the Uthiyur police.Veerakumar was driving the SUV at the wheel, and he was driving it in a reckless and negligent manner.According to the officer, as the SUV came toward Koduvai on the Dharapuram-Tirupur road around 4.10 p.m., he lost control of the vehicle, which hit the median, jumped it, and crashed into a private bus that was heading to Dharapuram from Tirupur.Although Veerakumar, Murugan, and Vetriselvan died on the spot, Sajithkumar and Maheshkum succumbed to their injuries without being admitted to a private hospital.

According to the officer, he is being treated in a private hospital, where his condition is thought to be stable.On Friday evening, the bodies were handed over to the family members after a postmortem.A complaint has been filed by the Uthiyur police department.
