AURANGABAD (AURANGABAD): The members and office-bearers of Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad have been booked by the city police on suspicion of unlawful assembly after gathering in a great deal on Friday to protest Chandrakant Patils' remarks on Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.Protesters assembled in the Shahganj district of Shahganj and chanted slogans against Patil without giving permission.The police officers on duty filed a lawsuit, which resulted in an arrest at the City Chowk police station on Friday.Protesters were given notices and released after the crime was declared bailable.
After learning about it, Republican Vidyarthi Sena supporters led by Sachin Nikam reached the Kranti Chowk area.Police bandobast was deployed to avert conflict between the BJP and Dalit supporters, not taking a chance.During the day, a group of demonstrators took to the streets in Beed and chanted slogans against Patil.They also carried banners and posters. Despite Patil's clarification of his statement and the use of the word begging, the controversy seems to be falling apart.On Friday and Saturday, demonstrations by various political parties were also staged in eight Marathwada districts.At various locations, police officials were also asked to register Patil's offense for making the statement against noble men and for insulting the feelings of their followers.
