GANDHINAGAR (Gandhinagar): Following Union governments' recommendations on vehicle health in whole, the state government will install automated testing stations for vehicle health in PPP mode, according to state transportation minister Purnesh Modi.Fitness tests for medium goods and heavy passenger vehicles will begin on April 1, 2023, while those for medium goods, medium passenger, and light vehicles will begin on June 1, 2024.Gujarat is the first state to declare a plan for improving cars, the minister said, adding that applicants will be given equal rights to install automated vehicle fitness stations, with one applicant being allowed to apply for a maximum of ten such stations.Modi said that the proposed scheme would aid in reducing waste in a transparent manner because all fitness stations would be completely automated with no human intervention.

He said the state government has adopted a generous model, and that the entire fee for vehicle health assessment would be paid to the fitness center's operator.He said that this would motivate more people to apply for operating vehicle fitness centers.Within 12 months of receiving a preliminary registration card, individuals will be required to open a fitness center.If a vehicle owner has any questions about the results of the vehicle fitness test, they should file a complaint with the regional transport office, according to the minister.
