Chennai (Tamil Nadu) (India), November 25 : Swathi, the main witness in the Salem Gokulraj murder trial, was sentenced to life in prison on March 8, 2022, along with nine other murder suspects.He was reportedly killed for falling in love with a girl from a different community, according to the Crime Branch, Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID), who initially arrested 15 people in the case.Swathi, a principal witness who became hostile during the trial in 2018, was ordered to be brought to trial today by the Madurai branch of the High Court, headed by the bench of Justices Ramesh and Anand Venkatesh.According to the Court, these safeguards must be implemented to ensure that Swathi comes before this Court without fear when confronted by this Court, the case was transferred from Namakkal Court to Madurai District's third Additional Sessions Court (Section for Prevention of Atrocities) on May 8, 2019.

Yuvraj and ten others have appealed this sentence to the Madurai branch of the Court.At the same time, Gokularaj's mother and CBCID and CBI organisations had filed a number of petitions seeking confirmation of the accused's guilt in the lawsuit.
