DALTONGANJ: Latehar police in Chandwa detained over a dozen BJP employees for four hours on Thursday, ahead of a planned protest outside the DDC office, seeking compensation to the kin of two minors who allegedly died after eating spurious mixture and wafers earlier this month.Chief Minister Hemant Soren was notably in Latehar on Thursday for the distribution of kisan credit cards.The detained workers were later released in the evening.Pratul Shahdeo, the BJP's spokesperson who was causing the stir, said the group was arrested at Chandwa Chowk on NH 75 and later erected in an inspection bungalow.

Madan Sharma, the officer in charge of Chandwa police station, said he had orders from above to arrest BJP employees, but didn't elaborate.Two girls aged five and 1.5 years died on June 5 and 7 after purchasing wafers and a mixture from a supermarket.
