Bengaluru prohibits the sale and slaughter of meat on Buddha Purnima.

The birth of Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, is commemorated on Buddha Purnima . It will be observed on May 16 this year .

May 15, Bengaluru (Karnataka), India: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has banned the sale and slaughter of meat in Bengaluru in honour of Buddha Purnima.The BBMP had previously prohibited animal slaughter and the sale of meat on Ram Navami.The birth of Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, is commemorated on Buddha Purnima.It will be observed on May 16 this year.
