Ahmedabad: According to the party, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel resigned as a formality after yesterday's election victory to lead the state to a landslide victory in the state election, with the governor confirming his resignation along with his entire cabinet on Friday.Mr Desai told reporters outside the Raj Bhavan that Patel will remain the caretaker chief minister until the government is formed, and that the BJP, which has 156 out of 182 seats, has called a meeting of all the newly elected MLAs on Saturday morning to elect a new leader, who will ultimately become the next Chief Minister.In the afternoon, the governor will be notified of the election of a new leader, which we have requested.Mr Desai said that the new chief minister and his cabinet's swearing-in ceremony would take place on Monday at the Helipad Ground in Gandhinagar, according to Mr Paatil.
