PATNA: On Thursday, state BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal blasted JD(U) for the failing state of higher education in Bihar and calling Nitish Kumars party's argument that the Centres Agnipath scheme for recruitment in the army as absurd.Jaiswal said at a Balliah function in honor of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, It makes me laugh that the JD(U) has called for a rethink on the Agnipath program.First and foremost, the group should overhaul the state's higher education system and ensure that degree programs are completed in three years.JD(U) has a division for education.

Instead of proposing a rethink on the four-year employment model in the military forces, the JD(U) should complete the degree program in three years, according to Jaiswal.Responding to Jaiswal's remark, JD(U) parliamentary board chairman and MLC Upendra Kushwaha said that university's internal affairs are not under the control of the state.According to him, the state government cannot interfere in the internal affairs of the universities because it is the responsibility of the vice-chancellor.Neeraj Kumar, a former minister and JD(U) chief spokesman, issued an indignant statement enumerating the steps taken to re-start the academic calendar.
