Patna (Patient): According to a CEO spokesperson, the opposition BJP took the lead in the by-election to the Kurhani assembly constituency in Muzaffarpur district in Bihar today, with Kedar Gupta receiving 4,194 votes, while Manoj Singh Kushwaha of the JD(U)s winning 2,195 votes.Both are former MLAs.The by-poll was triggered by the disqualification of sitting RJD MLA Anil Kumar Sahani.Gupta was defeated by Sahani by less than 700 votes in the 2020 assembly polls which the BJP and JD(U) had won in alliance.The JD(U) is now part of the Mahagathbandhan, which includes RJD, Congress, and the Left parties.Nearly 58% of people exercised their vote on Monday in a by-poll in Kurhani, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumars JD(U) and the BJP have horns for the first time since their break-up four months ago.
