Ahmedabad (Gujarat) India : With the Bharatiya Janata Party taking a clear lead in the vote counting for the Gujarat Assembly elections on Thursday, BJPs Viramgam candidate and Patidar leader Hardik Patel attributed the party's success to work done so far.He also discussed the 2019 revocation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.According to Patel, who left Congress months before the state election and joined the BJP, it was a victory of the BJP's work.The Modi government had scrapped the contentious Article 370 on August 5, 2019, which gave the state of Jammu and Kashmir a special status.With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), there was no contestation.

Patel, who switched from Congress to the BJP in June, was contested by Congress Lakha Bharwad and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Amarsinh Thakore.Patidar quota stir leader Phelanikar contested the polls from his hometown, Viramgam, one of Gujarat's 182 assembly constituencies, with 73,786 votes remaining, according to official numbers provided by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).Candidate Amarsinh Anandaji Thakor received 39,135 votes, while Congress received 28,634 votes.On Thursday, the counting of votes for the Gujarat Assembly elections began at 8 a.m. in 37 districts.

In the second phase, voter turnout was 51.11%, while in the first, 63.14%.The exit polls in Gujarat showed a clear victory for the governing BJP in Gujarat.
