Border dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra: CMs Bommai and Shinde speak amicably on the phone

Karnataka and Maharashtra governments have been in a border dispute for decades . The border dispute dates back to the adoption of the State Reorganization Act, 1956 .

Bengaluru (Karnataka) (India)-December 6: Surrounded by the ongoing border dispute, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai and his Maharashtra counterpart Eknath Shinde discussed the matter on Tuesday and decided that both states should preserve stability, law, and order.Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde and I had a telephonic meeting; we both agreed that in both the states, peace and law and order must be respected, tweeted Bommai.The Karnataka CM emphasized the harmonious relationship between the two countries' peoples, saying that the border issue would be decided legally by the Supreme Court.As long as there is a tense relationship between the peoples of both countries, there is no difference in our position as far as the Karnataka border is concerned.

The boundary conflict between Maharashtra and Karnataka dates back to the adoption of the State Reorganization Act, 1956.Both states demanded that the Maharashtra government extend its boundary with Karnataka, and a four-member commission was formed.The Maharashtra government had stated that it intends to relocate mainly 260 Kannada-speaking villages, but Karnataka turns off the proposal.Both governments then petitioned the Supreme Court to expedite the transaction.

These tensions are exacerbated by Maharashtra.Both states have prospered, and this (Border issue) is up for trial, and I'm certain we will win the administrative battle, CM Bommai said in a tweet to mediapersons the day after appealing to his Maharashtra counterpart to settle the border dispute legally.
