Bowbazar residences are being demolished, and locals are demanding answers.

Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited began demolishing a portion of one of the houses in Bowbazars Durga Pituri lane on Monday . If any more cracks are formed in the remaining portion of the house or there is a risk to its structure, the entire building will be demolished .

Following the tunneling work in the East-West Metro Corridor, Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) began demolishing a portion of one of the houses in Bowbazars Durga Pituri lane on Monday.However, if any more cracks are formed in the remaining portion of the house or there is a risk to its structure, the entire building will be demolished, according to the KMRCL.There have been cracks and fissures in a total of 14 houses in the area.According to sources, a team of experts from Jadavpur University visited the area on Monday and inspected the soil condition to determine the structural stability of the houses in the vicinity, as well as the security of the Metro construction work.Meanwhile, the demolition of a portion of the second house 161 Durga Pituri Lane could not proceed because the officials did not grant the building owners permission.
