Bhubaneswar: The BJD swept to a decisive victory today in the by-election for Padampur in Odisha, as its candidate Barsha Singh Bariha defeated the BJP's Pradip Purohit by a margin of 42,679 votes.Bariha received 1,20,807 votes overall after the 23rd round of counting, while Purohit received 78,128 votes, according to the Election Commission.The by-election was required since Barsha is the daughter of the late MLA Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha, whose passing in October.
