New Delhi (India), December 6: Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba assured Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry that they would coordinate with all central authorities to tackle the looming cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, referring to the state and Union Territory governments, as well as the concerned central agencies, and said, The intention should be to keep the number of people killed to zero and minimize the cost of injury to property and infrastructure, said Gauba, In the next 48 hours, it will continue to travel West-Northwestwards towards North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and the adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts.The Committee was advised by Chief Secretaries of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and senior officials from Puducherry of preparatory actions being taken to safeguard the population in the event of the cyclonic storm, as well as measures being taken by the local government, such as fishermen being urged not to venture out into the sea and returning those at sea to a safe berth, and that emergency services are being provided as needed by the State Government.The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF The Chief Secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, as well as senior officers from Puducherry, attended the meeting.The Union Home Secretary, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Power, DG Telecom, Member Secretary NDMA, CISC IDS, IG NDRF, DG IMD, and senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs attended the meeting.
