CALANGUTE: Two children's parks in Candolim, which were opened a few years ago, are currently closed and unoccupied, due to management problems, according to the article.Only one of the two parks on the Sinquerim plateau, opposite the St Lawrence church, had been completed a few years ago.The park is also equipped with a jogging track, which was constructed using ZP funds from Calangute ZP member Dattaprasad Dabholkar.Due to tensions between the church committee and the Candolim panchayat, Dabholkar said the park, which was built on land belonging to the St Lawrence church, is being locked.

Although a large number of tourists and children frequent the area, a separate children's park on the Candolim beach promenade is no longer accessible.Former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar ordered that the park be handed over to the panchayat before it was established and funded by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) under the central governments Swadesh Darshan program four years ago, but that was still not done.Inside the park, there is a concrete stage where music concerts and other performances were supposed to be held. The parks should be open for visiting tourist children, according to tourism officials.

Panchayat members said another park with a jogging track in Khobrawaddo, Calangute, has now hit a roadblock with the Calangute MLA now in the opposition.
