Droupadi Murmu is the NDAs presidential nominee today . Murmu had completed her Class VII in her village school in Uparbeda and wanted to further study .

Bhubaneswar: Droupadi Murmu had completed her Class VII in her village school in Uparbeda and wanted to further study.But this was 1970, and there was no place to study outside of the village.Besides, her illiterate parents didn't know how to accommodate the 12-year-olds' needs.She went to the local MLA and, undeterred, approached her to continue her education.

Majhi was accepted to the Capital Girls High School in Bhubaneswar's Unit-2 district, where she stayed in a hostel and completed her education in 1974, owing to her strong willpower and passion for education.Murmu is the NDA's presidential nominee today.As the news broke, students and faculty at Capital Girls High School could not cope with their emotions.It is a special moment for us all.

Smita Mohanty, a former student and now a teacher at the same school, said that all students who left the academy will be proud of her.Murmu had joined the school on July 21, 1970 in Class VIII, and she was honoured to attend the function as chief guest, according to Msmita Mohanty, a former student and now a teacher at the same school.I cant imagine that a pupil of our school would be the next President of India.She sat on these benches and sat in this garden, like us here.
