City's top cop advised you to revoke the new Pocso FIR order.

Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey has ordered police to withdraw the modified circular . The order was issued on June 6, directing cops to file such FIRs only after recommendation by an ACP rank officer and after being sanctioned by a zonal DCP .

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) has requested city police commissioner Sanjay Pandey to withdraw the modified circular on the registration of cases under the Molestation and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.Pandey issued an office order on June 6, directing cops to file such FIRs only after a recommendation by an ACP rank officer and after being sanctioned by a zonal DCP.On June 17, he issued a new order requiring co-ps to immediately report FIRs if they suspect any cheating from the National Commission for the Protection of Child Righ-ts, MSCPCR, and womens organizations.If cops suspect felony conduct, they should inform the senior inspector, as per the new order.

According to the MSCPCR letter, chairperson Susieben Shah signed it: ...offenses of molestation and child sexual abuse are observable, and therefore police are compelled to declare FIR immediately.The new order places the registration of FIRs under IPC Section 354 and Pocso Act as a condition and at the discretion of the police... tnn
