Ranchi: Khadya Suraksha Janadhikar Manch, a civil rights organisation working for the proper implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), has accused the government of deceitful accusations regarding the distribution of ration by members of the household.Vinod Singh, a CPI(ML) MLA, raised the issue on Thursday of ration not being given to villagers in Giridih, who are now on deaf ears.Responding to his query, the minister of food and civil supplies shared MIS data from the Aahar portal, claiming that around 94-95% of the foodgrain was allotted to retailers in Giridih, indicating that the beneficiaries were entitled to their due allowance during the years 2020-21 and 2021-22.The government's response detailed the procedure offered by the Act, saying that the owners have the opportunity to sue the supplier and, if true, are compensated for the non-disbursed quantity of foodgrain, and that civil action is taken against the dealer as well.

We keep getting calls, and to prove it, we conducted a public hearing in the two blocks of Chaibasa, where hundreds of villagers from 30 villages had arrived, he said.
