Coimbatore: Prisoned guest worker produces marijuana

COIMBATORE: On Friday, an Odisha man was arrested in Annur for growing ganja plants and selling the proceeds to guest workers in and around Ganeshapuram and Annur.Rabindra Parida, of Naradia village in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, was reportedly arrested by police.He had been employed at a manufacturing unit in Kurukkanpalayam, Coimbatore, for the past seven years.After receiving a notification, Rabindra was arrested with three packets of ganja by a police unit led by inspector M Nithya.

Before selling the leaves, he dried them.The police team took him to the quarters and took out the plants growing there.Rabindra was sentenced to a Coimbatore Central Prison for violating many sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
