Cong protests pricing increases, leading to 58 arrests

Congress workers attempted to march to Raj Bhavan before being apprehended by police . Party leaders were arrested and detained for almost two hours .

Patna (Patna): On Friday, Congress functionaries and staff hit the streets of the city as part of the party's national march against the Centre on the issues of price increase, unemployment, and GST on food items.Congress workers including state president Madan Mohan Jha attempted to march to Raj Bhavan before being apprehended by police.They could be seen carrying placards outside Sadaquat Ashram and shouting slogans against the NDA government at the center.The police apprehended them only about 500 meters from the party's headquarters.

Jha chastised the district administration for detaining the Congress leaders and workers.Shakeel Ahmad Khan, a Kadwa MLA, said the party would not allow this BJP-led autocratic government to do atrocities on the common people by raising prices of essential goods and failing to tackle unemployment, crime, and corruption.The demonstration was also against the NDA government's undemocratic leadership style at the center, according to Shakeel Khan.To demonize opposition figures, the government is misusing all of the departments to denigrate them.

As a state spokesperson for the parties, Rajesh Rathore said that such demonstrations would continue.Shyam Sundar Singh Dheeraj, MLC Prem Chandra Mishra, MLAs Izharul Hussain, Afaque Alam, and Pratima Kumari Das, as well as former minister Awadhesh Kumar Singh, participated in the demonstration.
