BJP on track to produce best-ever result in Prime Minister's home state . If Congress wins, it will have kept to tradition of rejecting incumbent government .

ShimlaNew Delhi: Though Gujarat declared its decision early today, the BJP is on track to produce its best-ever result in the Prime Ministers home state, Himachal Pradesh, which is a thriller, swinging between the Congress and the BJP.If the Congress wins, the hill state will have kept to its tradition of rejecting the incumbent government. It has split into the BJP and the Congress for nearly four decades, refusing to give either party a single term.According to congressional records, the party could shift its MLAs to Chhattisgarh, one of two states where it has a chief minister, if the result isn't decisive enough to discourage their poaching by the BJP.The BJP has reported that three of them, BJP rebels, have broken the halfway mark in the 68-member House As the BJP defeated rebels all over the region, Congress chief Ashish Kumar from Hamirpur led the way.The BJP won a comfortable 44 percent in the 2017 assembly elections, with the Congress winning 21 seats, one going to CPI-M, and two to Independents.

There is no Virbhadra Singh, the ex-royal and six-time chief minister of Punjab, who was the state's highest leader until his death last year.Pratibha Singh, the current Opposition leader, is running for governor, as well as their son Vikramaditya Singh. It instead focuses on the Delhi civic poll, which it won yesterday, and the Gujarat assembly polls, where it is making a dent at least.
